Trove of Indiana Vital Records Released on Ancestry & FamilySearch

This week Ancestry.com published three new collections of Indiana vital records, totaling 17 million entries. The collections include Indiana Birth Certificates (1907-1940), Indiana Death Certificates (1899-2011) and Indiana Marriage Certificates (1958-2005). This is a pretty huge set of collections for researching the branches of my family and my wife's side of the tree. I even found myself in the records.

These records join the recent publication of the Indiana Marriages, 1811-2007 database on FamilySearch. Take note the FamilySearch records are missing Howard, Johnson and Montgomery counties, which is unfortunate for me as I have a few lines in Montgomery County. I am hoping these will be available soon. There are currently 1,259,299 images in the FamilySearch collection.

The new records have already helped resolve some gaps in my research. Some of these finds will make their way to the blog in due course.

For those with Indiana connections, happy researching!
