The colonial influx of the Halter family in Algeria went beyond Jean Pierre and his family. From a search of the French Overseas Territories Department archives, it looks like several members of the extended Halter family made the journey from Bas-Rhin to Oran, Algeria. These were either brothers or cousins of Jean Pierre, with their families. Many of them married in Algeria and had families of their own. The earliest record dates from 1847, for the marriage of Catherine Halter to Jean Michel Riedl in Dely Ibrahim, a suburb of Algiers, followed by an 1853 marriage of Marie Antoinette Halter.
