Gregorio's A-File, Part 1

From the A-File of Gregorio Diaz Quijada.

Earlier in the week I shared some images from the Alien Case File for Maria Jesus Diaz de Mirazo. Now I'll start with a few pages from the file of her brother, Gregorio Diaz. He applied for alien registration in 1948, after many years off and on living in the United States. According to the card above, Gregorio's previous address was 129 S. Rowan Avenue in Los Angeles, and his current address at the time was 3659 E. 5th Street in Los Angeles. Both locations are now in the heart of East LA, near Boyle Heights, an area of significance for Mexican immigrants to LA.

The file confirms Gregorio was born in Hermosillo, Sonora on 12 March 1874, although he claimed that a record of his birth did not exist. I have not found one either, but I've seen that date repeated on a number of documents.

Gregorio listed the residence for his son Miguel at 911 Diamond Street (present day location of Figueroa Plaza) and for his daughter Maria Jacinta Refugio Diaz de Trujillo at 732 East Main Street (present day Downtown LA, near the Ace Hotel), and that he intended to reside in the US.

More from the file in another post.
