In 1921, Luella Taylor Waddell accompanied her husband on a voyage from New York to Europe, as part of his job producing film footage for the American Red Cross. Her passport application indicates they were departing on the New Amsterdam on 26 March 1921 for France and the British Isles. The second page includes a photo and physical description of Luella at age 39.

The application also included a letter from the American Red Cross explaining how Luella was traveling with her husband while he was working for the Red Cross.
