Digging back in

Photo by Patrick Jones. Abstract map of Columbia, SC. 30 Dec 2017.
We are back from visiting family in Columbia, South Carolina over New Years weekend. The time away was great, and we shared many memories with family. The break has also given me an opportunity to think about the blog and stories to follow in 2018. Posting has been much slower in the past few months, but I hope to give some new attention to the research side of things in January.

New Orleans celebrates its Tricentennial in 2018, and there are some family connections to the city that we need to revisit, both on Allison's side of the tree and my own. I have stumbled onto a previously unknown sister of Allison's 4th-great-grandfather, Francois Antoine Halter. This has opened up some new connections that are worth exploring on the blog on the Halter side and on the line connected to my great-grandfather, Harry Edward O'Brien.

I plan to revisit the Holtzclaw family and their arrival at the Germanna Colony in Virginia. I need to also pick back up the story of Philippe Du Trieux and his years in New Amsterdam. I meant to pick up his story after visiting New York last August, when I had a chance to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and see the land he previously owned. As always, more to follow.
