After watching some videos recently by genealogist Dana Leeds on how she is using AI tools like Claude to assist with making charts and Leeds Method tables, I thought I should try it out to see if it could help me make a descendancy diagram on my Pennsylvania O'Brien group related to James O'Brien. This is still a work-in-progress, but I can tell it is a powerful tool.
I'm using the free version at the moment. I started with a prompt asking Claude to help me make a descendancy diagram, giving it the parents as James O'Brien and Mary Nolan, with their children (shown above). Using some of the DNA matches on my Dad's results, I gave it more information on several branches descending from James and Mary. It quickly built the chart, providing a useful text narrative at each step along the way. I've hit the free limit at the moment, but am going to keep adding information.
I'm hoping it can take this information and possibly make a What are the Odds (WATO) chart that I can use to see how these people might be related to my Dad and connected to John O'Brien. More to share soon with this and I'm excited to see how this can help with visualizing my research.
