Grandma Lois in the 1950 Census

1950 US Census, Indianapolis, IN.

Recently, perhaps earlier this week, Ancestry published a searchable index for the 1950 US Census using their proprietary handwriting recognition technology. Using this tool, I was able to find my great-grandmother, Elizabeth Lois Whitley, at her home/restaurant located at 1341 Kentucky Avenue in Indianapolis. She is listed as a waitress and cook in the entry above.

Grandma Lois' second husband, Edward Turner, is listed as head of household, with his son William C. Turner and brother Charles Turner also living at the address.

There are a few others in the family I am looking for in the 1950 Census, and perhaps they will appear in hints as the indexing continues.
