This is such a great photo, Patrick. It looks like the lock actually works. I love old, restored canal towns.
The photo was taken in May 2010, and the locks do work. I understand NPS intends to replace the old boat with battery powered launch boats. The boat above was an 1870s mule-drawn replica. When the canal ride was in use they stationed the mules around the corner from a great bakery & coffee shop called Baked & Wired.
