The Hoop is In

Photo by Patrick Jones. 23 Nov 2020.

During the month of November, we've been working on a major drainage and landscaping project. With the new driveway and the prospect of an extended safer-at-home period continuing for many more months, over the weekend we added a backboard and hoop to the garage. I had a hoop above our garage growing up at the family home in Indiana, so this brings me a lot of joy to have one at the house. We broke it in last night, and my first shot was nothing but net.

As we continue with safer-at-home guidance, air travel remains paused for me. I took the photo above from Gravelly Point looking toward DCA last weekend while on my eight mile run.

Virtual 10K

6.2 miles of an 8 mile loop, 15 Nov 2020.

Yesterday I ran an eight mile loop from home to Gravelly Point and back. The first 6.2 miles counted toward successfully completing the virtual San Francisco Marathon 10K. I hadn't run over 6 miles since May, and that was the longest run I had completed since an 8 mile run in January from the office in Washington DC to home. My run wasn't particularly fast, but I'm okay with that. It was a perfect morning for a run, with warm sun and temperatures about 58. We probably don't have too many days like that remaining this fall.

We've had a major drainage and landscaping project going for the past few weeks, which hopefully will resolve our flooding issues in the backyard and properly move the water away from the house. The old driveway is in the process of being replaced to cover one of the drainage trenches. Our daughter took advantage of the concrete top before pavers are placed to try out her new skateboard.

Halloween 2020

Photo by Patrick Jones. 31 Oct 2020.

We kept Halloween at a distance last night, largely avoiding the treats and tricks in the neighborhood. Now we fall back into November. Ideally I will be able to do more family history research this month than last.
