There has been a church or cathedral on the site of the Duomo di Milano since 335 CE. Construction on the current Duomo began in 1386. It is an impressive building from the outside. I did not have an opportunity to go inside, as I chose to see an art exhibition in another part of Milan earlier in the evening. The plaza around the cathedral was lively with music and people.

Next to the Duomo is the high-end mall Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. This was designed in 1861 and is one of the world's oldest shopping malls.
